Last Sunday night, LBPD Detention Officer Phanarom Phin had a medical emergency at his home. Paramedics responded and tried life-saving measures while transporting him to a hospital; but tragically, he passed away. He leaves behind his wife and 3 children.
Phanarom served the people of Long Beach for 19 years, most of them in the Jail Division in the Bailiff detail, before his sudden passing. He and his wife were high school sweethearts and he was the sole provider for his household. He was always the person who never had anything bad to say about anyone and always had a smile for everybody. He was not only a colleague and friend to so many; but, most importantly, a strong, steadfast source of love and support to his wife and children. He freely gave his humor, hard work, guidance and wisdom to not only his LBPD family, but to law enforcement, correctional and judicial colleagues throughout the Long Beach/LA area.
Words cannot describe how heartbreaking this is to his family and loved ones.
Memorial services will occur within the next week in keeping with family traditions. A GoFundMe has been created to assist in with the services. The Link is here:
